ZIMO Decoder Interface Nomenclature
Last Updated 240602
The NMRA has developed Recommended Practice 9.1.1 - DCC Electrical Interface & Wire Color Code that is used by ZIMO to insure consistent application of the many decoder electrical interface connector types in use today.
ZIMO employs a standard nomenclature for naming products that indicates the type of connector used.
MS _ _ _ [ ] - [Decoder Series: MN, MS, MX...] - [Decoder Family: 440, 450, 500...] - [Interface: C, F, R...]
The suffix applied to the Series+Family name indicates the interface connector type.
[blank] - Hardwire - 7, 9, 11 (depending on decoder type) single wires with free ends (120 mm long).
[R] - NEM652 NMRA 8-pin - 8 pin plug to NEM652 standard (i.e. "medium interface" as specified in NMRA 9.1.1) on 70 mm long wires.
[F] - NEM651 NMRA 6-pin with harness - 6-pin plug to NEM651 standard (i.e. "small interface" as specified in NMRA 9.1.1) on 70 mm long wires.
[N/L] - NEM651 Direct NMRA 6-pin without harness - 6-pin direct plug to NEM651 standard (i.e. "small interface" as specified in NMRA) directly on decoder.
[P8/12/16/22] - NEM658 PLuX - "PluX" (pictured is the 16-pin example in the upcoming standard for vehicle to decoder connector in the DCC world, also in the NMRA DCC RP 9.1.1.
[C/D] - NEM660 21MTC - The 21-pin interface, "MTC", direct on decoder follows NMRA DCC RP 9.1.1, based on 22-pin plug and socket connections (one anti rotation pin as index).
[N18] - NEM662 Next18 - 18-pin interface to NEM 662 standard based on 18-pin plug and socket connections (one anti rotation pin as index) directly on decoder.
[E24] - RCD124 E24 - 24-pin interface to RCD-124 standard based on 24-pin plug and socket connections (one anti rotation pin as index) directly on decoder.
