Unfortunately, The Backshop has been targeted by internet scammers and otherwise bad actors once again and the losses are really quite painful.

The most common form of scam is where a bad actor orders merchandise and completes the purchase with fraudulent credit card information. The only common identifier associated with these transactions is the bad actors uses unique Bill To - Ship To address information.

As a small business, we just don't have the bandwidth to scrutinize every detail of every transaction so many of these orders slip through the cracks. I ship the product in good faith only to discover later the card owner has filed a claim with their card provider who then credits my account for the sale. I am out the product and the money and no one else has any culpability for the fraud except me. The banks don't help or care about the bad actors and simply pass the losses on to the retailer. They say I should not have taken the order.

I just don't have a better way manage the situation except to refuse to accept orders through the site having unique Bill To - Ship To address information.

If you need to have an shipped to a unique address, you must place the order through the site using the same address for Bill To and Ship To. You can call or email me your request to update the Ship To information before shipping. I will review the request and determine if I wish to proceed.
